Border clashes halt Thailand-Cambodia trucking as maritime routes remain stable

Recent fighting between Thailand and Cambodia has led to temporary closures and restrictions at major land checkpoints, severely disrupting cross-border trucking operations.

Cambodian authorities confirmed that all crossings with Thailand will remain shut until further notice.

As a result, all non-essential truck movements have been suspended, with only humanitarian cargo permitted to pass.

Kuehne+Nagel reports that transport companies are diverting shipments through Laos and Vietnam, a measure expected to increase transit times and transportation costs.

Despite the inland clashes, key seaports such as Laem Chabang in Thailand and Sihanoukville in Cambodia continue to operate normally.

Thai ports remain fully functional, and ocean freight services have not experienced significant disruption.

Meanwhile, Thai military commanders have discussed blocking fuel exports to Cambodia, according to Reuters.

Plans include instructing the navy to monitor vessels carrying strategic supplies and designating maritime zones near Cambodian ports as high-risk areas.

The situation remains fluid, with no indication of when border restrictions will be lifted.
