The new measures add China and South Korea for heightened vessel surveillance only

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) issued new regulations to supplement the seasonal measures for the Brown Marmorated Sting Bug (BMSB) this season.

According to a notice issued by the DAFF, a number of new elements were added to last year's measures. For instance, China and South Korea were added for heightened vessel surveillance only.

China and the UK are considered among the emerging risk countries and could be subject to increased random inspections.

Other measures include introducing the AusTreat for offshore treatment providers and removing the Vessel Seasonal Pest Scheme.

The DAFF highlighted that the seasonal measures would apply to targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from target-risk countries between 1 September and 30 April (inclusive) and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target-risk countries within the same period.
