The Fremantle Port Authority has announced that members of the Australian Maritime Officers Union WA will commence a 48-hour strike starting Sunday morning, 18 August 2024.
Pilot boat operators and vessel traffic officers plan to suspend their operations for the said period, driven by demands for a raise in base salaries.
The action is expected to delay cargo shipments in and out of the port significantly.
According to local news, the strike could extend beyond 48 hours.
Union officials have indicated that the strike will halt all vessel movements, affecting eight planned arrivals and eleven departures during the strike period.
Seaexplorer data shows that the 7-day average vessel waiting time at Fremantle Port has been stable in the past few weeks.
