US President Trump announced the introduction of new industry-specific tariffs, set to take effect on 1 October 2025.

The new regulations include a 25% tariff on heavy-duty trucks, a 50% tariff on kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and a 100% tariff on branded or patented pharmaceutical products.

However, the 100% tariff on pharmaceuticals will not apply to companies that build manufacturing plants in the US or have such a project under construction.

Trump announced the new measures on his social media platform on Thursday, 25 October, but no formal executive order detailing the tariffs has been published yet.

Local media reports mentioned that the new measures aim to decrease the influx of these products into the US market.
