US railroad Union Pacific issued an update on the bridge outage incident that took place on Tuesday, 24 January, and brought cargo movement in the area to a halt. According to the railroad, "bridge repairs in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, are proceeding ahead of schedule, with completion expected by Friday, January 27, 2023." According to the Journal of Commerce, Union Pacific Railroad halted the movement of international and domestic trade in both directions until further notice. "The suspension affects all domestic and international containers travelling from the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility in Long Beach, City of Industry, and the Los Angeles Transportation Central terminal to UP’s terminals in Chicago and Kansas City," wrote JOC. The Union Pacific customer advisory published on Tuesday, 24 January, stated, "A bridge outage in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, is impacting operations between Dalhart and El Paso, Texas. Customers with rail shipments moving through the impacted area should anticipate a 72-hour delay."
