Due to persistently high rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a "RED ALERT" warning for several districts in Gujarat.

The region experienced heavy rains over the past two days, leading to significant waterlogging and flooding. The IMD warning has been extended until 30 August 2024.

The severe weather is currently heavily impacting operations at Kandla, Mundra, and Pipavav ports. No impact on the Hazira Port is reported at the moment.

In addition, flooding in the Saurashtra region, particularly in Morbi, Western Railway, is causing significant disruptions in cargo rail movement.

Multiple cargo train services have been temporarily suspended up to 31 August 2024 to ensure the safety of operations and personnel.

Based on the weather forecast, suspended operations at Mundra and Kandla ports are anticipated to last 24 to 48 hours.

The weather may affect cargo operations, vessel schedules, and train traffic to and from northern inland depots throughout the following week.
