The southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul experienced heavy rainfall and extreme flooding last week, leading to major infrastructural damage and loss of lives.
According to media reports, the severe conditions caused the death of at least 70 people and left some cities completely isolated.
The floods hit multiple locations in the state, including key areas connecting the state with the Port of Rio Grande.
While the port did not announce suspending operations, handling is expected to proceed at a slower pace.
In addition, Kuehne+Nagel sources expect interruptions to road transportation after floods caused landslides, washed-out roads, and collapsed bridges.
Operators in the area have also reported disruptions to electricity and communications.
