According to a report by FleetMon, the ro-ro cargo ship Grande Senegal ran aground in the morning hours of 22 July on Madagascar reefs northwest of Yucatan, Mexico.
The ship was en route from Altamira, Mexico, to Brunswick, USA. Today's data show that the ship was still aground, with attempts to refloat it underway. FleetMon added that authorities fear the grounding caused damage to the reefs.
Grande Senegal is a 1318 TEU ship built in 2010 (13 years old) and currently sailing under the flag of Italy.
