Payra and Chattogram ports raise danger signal as Cyclone Hamoon intensifies

Vessel movements and operations at the Bangladeshi ports are likely to be affected in the next few days

Bangladesh Meteorological Department announced earlier today that Cyclone Hamoon intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm in the early hours of 24 October and is likely to cross the Barishal-Chattogram coast tomorrow.

According to the announcement, Hamoon is expected to bring light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind.

Nevertheless, the department called on Payra and Chattogram ports to raise the danger signal to seven as the storm intensifies.

Kuehne+Nagel sources revealed that the weather has already begun affecting the movements of sailing vessels due to disruption in cargo execution. Operations and vessel schedules are also likely to be affected in the next few days.
