Maersk has embarked on a technological upgrade by rolling out its new digital connectivity platform, OneWireless, across 450 ships.

This initiative, announced in a recent press release, aims to enhance cargo tracking capabilities by transitioning from 2G to 4G connectivity.

The fleet includes all Maersk-owned vessels and over 100 time-chartered ships.

The new platform will enable real-time cargo tracking, improve supply chain visibility, and boost operational efficiency.

In a separate development, the Danish carrier has announced that the colour of its shipping containers will change after 50 years.

The iconic Maersk blue will replace the current grey containers with white lettering, aligning the containers with the liner's light blue ships.

According to ShippingWatch, Maersk has already ordered 85,000 new blue containers, which are currently under construction.

The transition will occur as the grey containers reach the end of their 18-year lifespan, with the last grey container expected to be retired by 2043.
