Danish container liner Maersk and its German counterpart Hapag-Lloyd announced the creation of a new shipping alliance.
According to a press release published by Maersk this morning, the carrier said, "We have entered a long-term operational collaboration with Hapag-Lloyd."
The collaboration agreement between the two shipping giants will be called the 'Gemini Cooperation', and it will be "implemented from February 2025, immediately after the conclusion of our current 2M Alliance."
"Hapag-Lloyd is a like-minded partner that shares our ambition and commitment," said Maersk in the statement.
The network will cover seven trades, says Maersk: Asia / US West Coast, Asia / US East Coast, Asia / Middle East, Asia / Mediterranean, Asia / North Europe, Middle East - India / Europe and Transatlantic.
