Indonesia is currently experiencing widespread civil unrest, with nationwide demonstrations escalating in intensity over the past several days.
Initially sparked by public outrage over lawmakers’ allowances and deepening economic hardship, the protests have turned violent in several major cities, including Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Makassar, Medan, and Bali.
Authorities have responded by deploying riot police and imposing roadblocks across key urban centres. Multiple embassies have issued travel warnings, urging caution due to the volatile situation.
According to Reuters photo reports, clashes between demonstrators and riot police have intensified, with tear gas deployed and flares thrown during rallies outside the Indonesian Parliament building in Jakarta
Operational impact
Port operations remain stable and uninterrupted at present. CFS Operations continue to operate normally, with opening hours from 08:00 to 16:00. However, trucking capacity is reduced due to unsafe road conditions and limited driver availability.
