A powerful storm system that brought heavy rain and snow on Sunday caused flooding and mudslides across California.
According to an NBC report, flooding was caused by heavy rain in lower elevations, and higher elevations were prepared for the possibility of whiteout conditions, which would make travel hazardous to practically impossible.
A flood watch was in effect for the Los Angeles area, and downtown saw more than 7 inches (17.8 centimetres) of rain - 11 inches (27.9 centimetres) in some places.
Parts of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties were forced to evacuate on Sunday due to heavy rain, as reported by NBC.
While officials claim the heaviest part of the storm is over, port operations in Los Angeles and Long Beach are likely to witness delays due to the storm.
Meanwhile, the bad weather disrupted land transport in Southern California's streets and freeways yesterday.
