Fruit Attraction, Madrid: a global hub for reefer trade

Fruit Attraction 2023 takes place from 3 to 5 October and promises to deliver significant value to reefer and perishable shipping

Fruit Attraction is a global fruit and vegetable industry trade fair held annually in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the world's largest and most important fruit and vegetable trade fairs, attracting exhibitors and visitors from over 130 countries.

This year's event will take place from 3 to 5 October and promises to deliver significant value to reefer and perishables shipping.

Like other trades, the transport of perishable goods faced several challenges in the past few years. However, while other cargo types stagnated, the reefer trade proved resilient.

Maritime and shipping experts at Drewry expect volumes of seaborne reefer containers to grow by 2% this year, "outpacing the wider dry cargo trade."

Fruit Attraction is an essential event for the reefer trade because it helps to promote the trade of fresh produce and facilitate the development of new business relationships. It also helps to raise awareness of the importance of the reefer trade in ensuring the global food supply.

In 2022, Fruit Attraction had over 2,000 exhibitors from over 50 countries. The event was attended by over 95,000 visitors, including buyers, importers, exporters, distributors, and other professionals from the reefer trade.
