Technical disruption and strike action affect French port operations

French port operations are facing separate disruptions at Le Havre and Marseille-Fos, with a technical incident affecting the Terminaux de Normandie and industrial action announced for the Gulf of Fos.

At Le Havre, an ongoing major technical incident at the Terminaux de Normandie is affecting container operations.

Kuehne+Nagel reports that pick-ups and drop-offs are currently disrupted as a result.

Meanwhile, the CGT union, representing dockworkers and cargo handling staff in the Gulf of Fos, has called industrial action for 16 October.

The action took place from 06:00 to 13:00 local time today with impact on operations at Fos-sur-Mer port.

Cargo handling, vessel loading and unloading and some associated transport flows were disrupted during the action.

A separate industrial action has also been announced across all French ports for 30 October.

Details of how that action will be organised have not yet been confirmed.

The country is also expected to witness a nationwide strike on 5 November, with participation from both the private and public sectors.
