On Monday, August 11, US President Donald Trump extended the suspension of high tariffs on Chinese goods for an additional 90 days.

A White House official made the announcement yesterday, one day before the tariffs were set to be reinstated. The new deadline will now be 10 November.

According to a Reuters report, this decision was made after recent discussions between the US and China in Stockholm in late July.

The extension aims to prevent the escalation of tariffs to April rates, which were set at 145% US tariffs on Chinese goods and 125% Chinese tariffs on US goods.
