The Syrian government announced talks on a new contract with French liner CMA CGM to manage the container terminal at Latakia port.
According to the news, the contract includes settling previous dues and introducing new terms and mechanisms for the terminal's operation.
Reuters further reports that the country's meeting with CMA CGM discussed building a new ship deck at the port.
Latakia port, Syria's primary maritime gateway, has been managed by CMA CGM since 2009.
The contract was last renewed in October 2024 for an additional 30 years under the regime of Bashar al-Assad, who was ousted from power on 8 December.
