ONE partners with Ocean Alliance members on transatlantic services

Alphaliner says ONE was forced to look for new partners on this trade, with the dissolution of The Alliance

18 December 2024 (Lloyd's List) - SINGAPORE-based Ocean Network Express has signed a vessel-sharing agreement with competitor carriers from the Ocean Alliance on three new transatlantic routes.

The collaboration with CMA CGM, Cosco Shipping and Evergreen will start in February 2025, after the dissolution of The Alliance, where ONE is currently a member.

With the departure of Hapag-Lloyd, ONE and other former members have rebranded the grouping as Premier Alliance and managed to partner with Mediterranean Shipping Co via slot-sharing on Asia-Europe trade.

“The Geneva-based carrier however prefers to operate a standalone network between Europe and North America, forcing former The Alliance members to find alternative setups for that trade,” said Alphaliner.

The three new jointly operated services, namely AT1, AT2 and AT3, will connect 14 direct ports in the UK, Continental Europe, North America east coast and the Gulf of Mexico.

Key ports of call include Southampton, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Le Havre, New York, Norfolk, Baltimore, Charleston, Savannah, Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, and New Orleans.

Separately, ONE also added a new rotation to its AL5 transatlantic service connecting Southampton to Los Angeles and Caucedo via a new stop in Miami. That enhanced service will begin operation in February 2025 as well.
