Evergreen receives new 24,000 TEU vessel
Ever Acme is the third 24,000 TEU ship to be owned by the Taiwanese carrier, joining Ever Alot and Ever Aria.
The sixth largest containership carrier in the world, Evergreen, received its third mega boxship four months ahead of schedule.
'Ever Acme' is the third 24,000 TEU ship to be owned by the Taiwanese carrier, joining her sisters 'Ever Alot' and 'Ever Aria'.
The new mega-ship was built by Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and is about 400 meters long and fitted with a myriad of green features, including high efficiency, energy-saving, and safety solutions, according to Offshore Energy.
It is interesting to note, that all three ships were delivered to Evergreen in the same year. 'Ever Alot', which was one of its kind at the time and the largest ship in the world, was delivered to the carrier in June 2022. Three months later, in September 2022, Evergreen received 'Ever Aria', also a 24,000 TEU containership.
While 'Ever Alot' broke records in June 2022, news circulated last year about a newbuild with a capacity that surpasses it.
Hudong Zhonghua announced last year it is building what will be the largest containership in the world for Swiss carrier MSC. The report published by Maritime Executive in August 2022 revealed that 'MSC Tessa' will have a loading capacity of 24,116 TEU.
MSC's ship is said to be approximately 60 meters longer than the largest aircraft carrier and has a deck area equivalent to four football fields.
