Dockworker unions in Italy confirm strike action for 6 February

An international call led from Genoa is matched by a 24-hour national port strike in Italy

The grassroots dockworkers’ union Unione Sindacale di Base (USB), based in Genoa, Italy, announced an international general strike scheduled for 6 February 2026.

According to local news, the strike is scheduled for 24 hours and will include the maritime sector and port workers across all ports in the country.

The February action has drawn formal participation from several port and labour organisations outside Italy as well.

Unions in Greece, Turkey and Morocco have announced strikes on the same day. However, it remains unclear if the maritime sector will be impacted.
